HL7 v2 batch file analyzer
Open a file of thousands of HL7 v2 messages: filter by field path, sort, count message types and field values, compare two messages, validate all, find and replace, split and export to CSV, PDF or .hl7.
Open a batch filePrivacy: Runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded, but this web version is for test data only: don't paste PHI. To work with real messages, use the same tool in the free downloadable Sandbox, which runs fully offline on your computer.
What it does
- Reads MLLP-framed, CR, LF and blank-line separated files; 10,000 messages in well under a second
- Filter by field path: PV1-2=I, MSH-9 contains A08, PID-5.1 ~ regex, combined with AND
- Statistics: message type and trigger, sending application and facility, distinct values of any field
- Compare two messages field by field, ignoring MSH-7 and MSH-10 if you like
- Validate every message and export the findings
- Find and replace by field path with preview and undo; split, merge and save subsets
- Name your Z-segment fields (saved in your browser)
- Exports: CSV, PDF reports and .hl7 files, all made in your browser
- A 120-message practice batch to try it on
Questions
How many messages can it handle?
Tested with 10,000 messages; large files are read in a background worker and the list only draws the rows on screen.
Does it upload my file?
No. Files are read by your browser. Still, the web version is for test data; use the offline Sandbox for real messages.
Can I export the results?
Yes: the message list, chosen fields, statistics, comparisons and validation results export to CSV, and reports to PDF.
All tools are free. Is the Sandbox download safe?
