These five show up in Harbor Engine’s error queue more than almost anything else in Penford training traffic. None of them need heroics — they need the right fix in the right layer.
Symptom: MSA-1 = AR; ERR often Table 0357 101 or a clear “control ID” reject.
Fix: Give the message a unique control ID; make the sender generate one forever. One-off repair: Edit & resend with an audit reason.
Symptom: AE on PID-7; “not a valid TS/DTM.”
Fix: Transformer date → YYYYMMDD. Never invent a DOB.
Refs: PID-7 insights in the viewer, PID reference.
Symptom: Lab NAKs; bed board may still AA.
Fix: Ask registration. Do not copy the account (AN) into an MR-typed field.
Symptom: AR / Table 0357 202.
Fix: Point PROD at PROD. Do not rewrite MSH-11 to sneak traffic into TEST.
Symptom: AE / Table 0357 103.
Fix: Code-table lookup with a * default; or add the code with governance — do not silently coerce clinical meaning.
Reproduce each failure in the Sandbox, read Insights in the HL7 viewer, and keep the error lookup open while you work tickets.
